Charms

Goals for this class

In first place, I must mention that eating cereal is NOT one of the goals. But yes, to learn about magic, the different kinds of charms, their characteristics, and when and when NOT to use them.
The correct way to cast a spell using the best tool we wizards have: the wand.
And not less important, all about CURSES!!!

Welcome to Charms

First of all, let me start with some background.

I am Prof. Tarma Amelia Black, and I have the honor of Prof. Ulol Kimil's class. This class was originally taught by Prof. Olivia Rictusempra. Ulol got it from Olivia, and, after teaching a few years, went off to train Hippogriffs, at which time I inherited the class.

Charms is one of the most important branches of Magic. Cast a spell involves a deep knowledge and years of practice. It is not just about shouting weird words, you must shout them in a certain way and with all your will, and sometimes, using the proper instruments to help the charm to get its objective.

So we have a long way to learn the basics of Charms. I hope you enjoy it.

Class Information and Rules

All the lessons and assignments are up now. You may hand in your assignments ahead of time (but not before term starts on February 1st) but must hand them in in order — Lesson 1, Lesson 2, etc.

To receive a QUILL for this class, you must complete 3 of the 4 assignments AND the final exam with no less than 150 points.

Each assignment is due at the end of its month except for the Term Exam, e.g., Assignment 1 is due at the end of February, Assignment 2 is due at the end of March, Assignment 3 is due at the end of April, Assignment 4 is due at the end of May, and the Term Exam is due by June 15th.

If you need an extension for any of the Assignments, please ask for one before its due date. Send me an HOL Message or an email at the class address specifying for which assignment you want an extension... and for which class!

If for accessibility reasons you can't complete an assignment, please just let me know and an alternative can be worked out.
