“I do love
knitting patterns.”

Assignment Two

For this assignment, you need to knit something with a lace pattern. The what is left up to you, based on what sort of item you want to make. To get you started on ideas, I've included a few suggestions below; if you've got a different idea, though, or just need help finding something you like, send us an email for approval or advice.

Suggestions

  • Candleflame Shawl, a gorgeous pattern designed for lace-weight yarn, that can be made as a scarf or a shawl;
  • Cathedral Purse, a rather pretty bag that can be used for a purse, a small project bag, or even a gift;
  • Foliage is a nice, autumny lacy hat pattern;
  • Liesel, "an easy lace scarf that can be knit in less than a day, and is a great stashbuster for those single skeins";
  • Montavilla Market Tote is a gorgeous and eco-friendly bag for grocery and produce shopping;
  • Winter Flame Scarf, "an uncomplicated yet elegant design for a wonderfully stylish scarf";
  • Ravelry's search for free lace patterns, for which you need to be logged into Ravelry to view the results.

Take a picture of your finished item and send it — as an attachment or a link, your choice — to [email protected], using the subject Knitwear Assignment 2 - ab123 (where ab123 is your HOL ID).

Due October 31st. Worth 30 points.

Extra Credit

Take a picture of your finished item in use — being worn, being used in some fashion, or just a really interesting, creative shot. Have fun with it. Send the picture (attachment or link) to [email protected]. You can send it with the main assignment or on its own; if you send it separately, use the subject Knitwear Extra Credit 2 - ab123 (where ab123 is your HOL ID).

Due October 31st. Worth 15 points.
